One in four – joint mental health commissioning strategy: 2010 - 2015

1 in 4 people will suffer from negative mental health in their lifetime.  The Joint Mental Health Commissioning Strategy sets out the plans for commissioning services to prevent mental health and how to provide effective treatment to those with mental health issues.  The strategy runs from 2010 – 2015 and encompasses the requirements of the national mental health strategy, the actions of which the South West (of which Dorset is part) is due to deliver ahead of time and before the rest of the country.Service users, their carers and staff who use and work within local services have played an integral role in writing this strategy.  This contribution has resulted in the value of recovery and importance of empowerment taking a central role in this strategy. Those involved in the joint strategy are: NHS Bournemouth and Poole, NHS Dorset, Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council, Borough of Poole and Time to Change.
